Widgets and the lock screen

Your garage on the home screen, a live card while you drive, and a way to start a drive without opening the app.

Most of a drive happens with the phone face down. Marque puts the parts you actually want mid-drive - or mid-week - where you can see them without opening anything.

Home-screen widgets

Three tiles, on both iPhone and Android. Add them the way you add any widget on your phone.

  • Garage - the car that leads your garage, its photo, and whether anything is due on it. Tap it to open the garage.
  • Last drive - how far, how long, when, and its composure score once the drive has synced.
  • Start a drive - a button and nothing else. It opens Marque straight onto a recording drive.

Gut zu wissen

The last-drive tile shows no map, deliberately. A route line is a picture of where you’ve been, and a lock screen isn’t the place for it - see privacy.

Starting without opening the app

On an iPhone, Start a drive can also live in Control Centre or on the lock screen as a control. On Android, the same thing is a Quick Settings tile in the shade. Either way it opens Marque on the record screen and starts. The recorder needs the app running, so it never records invisibly.

If you would rather not touch the phone at all, an iPhone can start a drive by voice or on its own when the car connects - see starting a drive hands-free.

While you’re driving

iPhone

A live card sits on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island for the whole drive: distance, current speed, the elapsed clock, and a Pause or Resume button. Pausing from there is the same pause as in the app - see pausing and resuming.

Stand the phone on its side while it charges and the card lays itself out for StandBy, big enough to read from the passenger seat.

Android

The drive runs as an ongoing notification, so the system keeps recording while the screen is off and you can get back to the cockpit with one tap.

While a video is rendering

A video export gets a card of its own with the progress on it, so you can put the phone away and let it finish. Tap it when it’s done and it takes you back to the drive. On Android the same progress arrives as a quiet notification.

Tipp

Widgets keep showing whatever they last had, even with Marque closed. Sign out and they blank themselves. A signed-out phone never shows the last driver’s car.
