Beyond the road

Filled in for you

Where Marque fills in a form so you don’t have to: names, mileage, receipts, documents and regular trips.

Most of what Marque asks you to type, it already knows or can read. So it fills the field in and leaves the decision to you. Nothing is saved until you tap save, and anything you change stays changed.

From what Marque already knows

  • Mileage - logging a mod or a service starts from your car’s current odometer. On a fill-up or a company-car handover you’ll see the last known reading as a hint instead: those are real readings, so only the dash gets to set them.
  • Parts - pick a part from the catalogue and its category and usual price come with it.
  • The next service - an oil change or a service suggests when it’s next due, by date and distance. Tyres, brakes and inspections don’t: they depend on wear and on where you live.
  • The VIN - type it when you add a car and the make, model and year fill themselves in. A European VIN usually gives the make and year only.
  • Regular trips - if you keep a logbook, a trip between two places you’ve driven between before offers to be marked the way those trips were, with the same trip note. One tap, and only a suggestion.
  • Club meets - plan a meet from one of your roads and the start, the name and a note fill in.

From a photo

Fuel receipts, workshop invoices, insurance cards, inspection certificates and the car itself can be read from a photo. Look for the scan button at the top of the form.

  • A receipt fills the amount, date, litres and where you paid. An amount in another currency is left for you, so it isn’t filed under the wrong one.
  • A document fills what it is and when it expires, so the reminder is right.
  • Your car fills the make and model when it can tell. Check the model: a photo can mistake one generation for the next.

Good to know

The photo is read once and deleted. It isn’t kept on your account. Scans are free, up to 30 a month.

Names

A drive gets a name on its own once it has synced, and a road you publish starts with a suggested name and description. Both are written by Apex and carry its violet sparkle until you change them. Business trips are never named: they go to the logbook, not the feed.
