Leaderboards and composure

Marque has boards, but they don’t work the way you might expect. There’s no fastest time, no fastest anyone, no prize for pace. Every board here ranks one thing: composure.

What composure is

Composure is craft, meaning how cleanly a drive was driven. It’s read per event, on three axes: Line, the shape of each corner; Pedals, each brake and throttle input; and Transitions, how the two blended where both were in play. Every wobble is judged against the load of its own corner or input, so driving harder neither raises the score nor lowers it. The same corner driven quicker scores the same. An axis the road never asked for is simply left out, never a free mark: a straight held at one speed isn’t a perfect drive, it’s an unscored one. Two people can drive the same road and the more composed one ranks higher, regardless of who was quicker.

Beside composure the report shows Flow - how closely your speed kept the shape the road asked for, momentum carried rather than sawn at - and, when a drive had one, the good bit: the twistiest stretch scored on its own. Neither is ranked, and Flow isn’t a pace figure: a slow flowing drive and a quick one score the same.

Road boards

Every shared road has its own board, ranking the composure of everyone who has driven it. It’s the natural place a good road’s regulars end up. It measures who reads the road best, not who attacks it hardest. See following a road to get on one.

The global board

Your global standing is built from your road results. Think of it as the drivers you’ve out-composed, summed across all the roads you’ve driven. It rewards driving lots of roads well, and it’s designed so you can’t farm it by grinding a single easy stretch.

Top speed is shown, never ranked

Boards do display a drive’s top speed as a plain fact, next to the composure that actually sorts the list. It’s there for colour, not competition. Nothing about a bigger number moves you up. And if you would rather not show it at all, hide top speed keeps it off every board.
