Recording drives
Pausing and resuming
Pause a drive for a coffee stop without splitting it in two - and how paused time is kept out of your stats.
Sometimes a drive has a middle - a fuel stop, a photo, lunch. Pausing lets you keep it all as one drive instead of ending up with two short ones on either side of a break.
Pause and resume
While recording, tap Pause. Marque stops logging and releases the GPS, so your battery is not drained sitting still. When you are ready to go again, tap Resume and the same drive carries on.
Tip
Paused time does not count against you
Time spent paused is kept out of the figures that describe how you drove - your moving average, for one, is not dragged down by twenty minutes at a café. Your total elapsed time still reflects the whole outing, so the drive reads honestly either way.
The “still driving?” check
If a drive has been sitting still for a while without being paused, Marque will gently ask whether you are still driving. It is there so a drive you forgot to stop does not quietly pad itself with an hour of parked time. Answer it and the drive does the right thing - carries on, or wraps up.
You can answer it straight from the notification, without unlocking: Keep recording leaves the drive running, Finish drive ends it and takes you to the report. The same goes for the nudge you get when a paused drive starts moving again - Resume drive picks it back up from there.
If the signal drops
Losing GPS in a tunnel or a deep valley is not the same as pausing. Marque keeps the drive alive and picks the route back up when the sky reappears; it just cannot draw the stretch it could not see. If you notice a “signal lost” note on a parked car, that is the same liveness check working - it is watching for real movement, not a frozen reading.
Once you stop for good, you land on your drive report. If you would rather not have to remember to start a drive in the first place, see starting a drive hands-free.
